PC Marsh has been charged in connection to an ongoing investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

The IOPC, the public body responsible for handling police complaints, began its investigation in February after receiving a complaint referral from the Met Police.

It sent a file of envidence to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in April, which authorised the charge.

The CPS is the main public agency for conducting criminal prosecutions in England and Wales.
