Police provide update on search for missing Sean Day

Officers were called to the river Wye in Hereford around 12.05am on Saturday, July 29, following reports that Sean Day, 29, had fallen into the river near the Castle Green Pavilion.

Three men arrested on suspicion of murder have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

One week on and searches led by West Mercia Police continue.

Police search trained officers, along with West Mercia Search and Rescue, dive teams, volunteers, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service and Severn Area Rescue Association have been progressing their searches of the river, while CCTV and witness enquiries continue.

Detective Inspector Cath Taylor said: “We are continuing to support Sean’s family as our searches of the river progress. We know he was last seen entering the river and has not been seen since which leads us to believe he came to harm. Three people arrested on suspicion of murder have been released on police bail as our enquiries continue.

“We are still keen to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything at the time and location of the incident.
