Becki Luff and Lucy Nolan, better known as The Chroma Harp Duo, will be playing at St Mary’s church in Craswall on August 18.
The innovative harp duo recently featured on BBC Radio 3, and are crafting a name for themselves as commissioners, creators, and performers.
The pair founded the duo in 2016, and have since enjoyed exploring and performing an eclectic and challenging range of repertoire ever since.
Chroma Harp’s wide-ranging style defies the traditional harp sound and stereotype, and they are constantly on a quest for new and exciting sounds.
This includes regularly commissioning new works from composers and incorporating unusual techniques and objects into their performances to achieve this, including usual unexpected items such as chopsticks and blue tack.
The pair were finalists in the Wales International Harp Festival, where they were awarded first prize in the London Camac Harp Ensemble Competition as well as the UK Harp Association’s prize for the best performance of a British work.
The duo’s programme for their Craswall debut promises to draw in the audience, whilst they engage with a wide range of musical styles, sounds and composers, including works by JS Bach, Vivaldi, Nagarajan and Baskar, Turk, Chertok, and de Falle.
The performance challenges the classical harp stereotype with a concert that will take the audience on a kaleidoscopic journey spanning 350 years and 3 continents.
