A Junior school is usually a small school that educates children between the ages of eight and twelve.
In most primary schools, the junior schoolis located within the same buildings as the primary school.
Often junior schools cater for pupils moving from infant schools from the September following their 7 birthday.
Pupils join in Year 3, and stay at the school for four years, leaving at the end of Year 6 when most pupils are aged eleven.
These 4 years form Key Stage 2 in the English educational system. At the end of this period, most pupils will go to a secondary school.
