Jail for pair who mugged lone men at knife-point

Knife-point robbers who splashed their stolen cash on clothes and fast food have been jailed.

Abdulahi Sharif Mohamed, 20, of Riverdene, Edgware and a 17 year-old from Wembley targeted lone men on a pathway in Edgeway between Farm Road and Brook Avenue.

The victims were men aged between 25 and 50 and were robbed of phones and wallets as they walked home from the tube station.

PC Sam Kirk, from Barnet Borough, said: “The pair left their victims traumatised by the level of violence used, as well as being threatened with a knife.

“They targeted lone victims in order to steal their phones and money, which they spent on clothes and fast food.”

Mohamed was identified as being responsible for crimes committed on May 8, 17 and 20.

The victim in the first robbery was threatened at knife-point; the victim in the last robbery was beaten and needed hospital treatment.

The teenager admitted the offences on May and May 17, in addition to another offence on 17 May in which a male victim was threatened with a knife.

Mohamed was sentenced on Thursday, 23 August at Harrow Crown Court to three years and four months’ imprisonment.

He had previously pleaded guilty on Monday, 16 July to robbing three victims.

At the same hearing. the 17-year-old male was given an 18-month Youth Referral Order, a six-month tagged curfew and 12-month ban from entering the London Borough of Barnet having pleaded guilty to three offences.
