Herefordshire three-year-old cancer patient’s GoFundMe page
Three-year-old Oscar Baker was diagnosed with a significant, cancerous tumour of the brain after a period of vomiting and feeling ill. Admitted to Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Oscar underwent a nine-hour operation “within days” said family friend and fundraiser organiser, Leeanne Walker.

The surgery to remove the whole tumour was “a huge success,” but his type of cancer means Oscar now faces the most intensive form of chemotherapy and a five-month stay in hospital.
“He will also need to have stem cell treatment which involves going under general anaesthetic a number of times,” said Ms Walker.
With the family’s fuel and food costs significantly rising whilst taking shifts to be with Oscar and care for his twin brother, Max, Ms Walker felt setting up a GoFundMe for the family “a small gesture which I hope will give them one less thing to worry about, so they can focus on getting their beautiful, strong little boy better.”

Starting with a target of £3,000 but since skyrocketing thanks to some 233 generous donations, the GoFundMe has raised an astonishing total of £13,822 for the family so far. Those who wish to donate to the cause can still do so on Oscar’s GoFundMe page itself.

“It’s hard to sum up what is happening, really,” said Ms Russell. Oscar is “halfway through treatment” but remains “fiercely strong” and “so resilient, amazing everyone with his strength even through difficult days.
“He brings so much happiness to me and everyone he meets, I’m just so incredibly proud of him,” Ms Russell said.
