Fire and Fromage is the 2023 incarnation of Jimmy Garcia’s regular winter Southbank pop up, which celebrates the hearty mountain hospitality of the Alps.
This year, running from November 2 until December 31, punters have two options to choose from: a raclette bar, or private dining in one of the hit snow globes, a snug, private igloo-type pod.
The Raclette Bar serves a traditional unlimited Savoyard raclette with sourdough baguettes, rosemary and herb potatoes with confit garlic, mixed lead salad and mixed charcuterie.
The menu is priced at £35 per person and sittings run for 90 minutes.
For a more intimate alfresco dining experience, the snow globes are private dining pods perched along the river.
Festive, snug and heated, these igloos come with cracking views across the Thames and can fit up to 10 people.
Available to book seven days a week once open, diners can expect a three course Alpine-inspired menu.
Menu items include wild venison and mushroom terrine, and blue cheese mousse with roasted walnuts and pickled celery for starters, and a traditional fondue with mixed charcuterie (or the vegan equivalent) and as sharing steak cooked on hot stone as the mains.
Dinner costs £55 per person and mains are served sharing style.
Guests can take it up a notch for a special occasion with the Ultimate Winter Feast. This includes champagne on arrival, a starter, fondue and steak for mains, along with half a bottle of wine and an after dinner cocktail, for £100 per person.
For more informal eating, the winter street food kitchen and bar will also return, and serve more than just melted cheese in its various forms.
The raclette bar, Snow Globes and the street food market are open 12pm to 11pm daily, and are closed Christmas day.
