Croydon thief who bought Tesco goods with stolen bank card jailed

Julian Sinclair, 35, of Lower Barn Road, Croydon, pleaded guilty on December 21 to three charges at Bexley Magistrates’ Court.

The offences consisted of two counts of fraud by false representation and one count of “burglary other than dwelling”.

Sinclair used a stolen bank card on December 19, 2023, to purchase unspecified goods from Eastern European Foods and Tesco Express.

The same day, he also burgled Anticoli in Maple Road, Penge, stealing a handbag worth approximately £100.

The court reasoned that the seriousness of the offences and Sinclair’s extensive record of offending justified his sentence of six weeks in prison.

Sinclair was also ordered to pay Anticoli £100 in compensation.
