Arrest made after police officer punched in face on District line train

The incident happened on a District line train at around 7.50am on January 23.

Two men began to argue on the westbound service between South Kensington and Gloucester Road.

This was reportedly followed by one of the men punching the officer on the left side of his face.

A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm, assaulting an emergency worker and possession of a Class B drug. 

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident.
