A49 road closures start again in Herefordshire TODAY

National Highways is carrying out a raft of works to improve safety at bends and junctions on the busy main road between Woofferton and Llandinabo.

This includes replacing roadside signs to ensure drivers are better informed of the road layout, and that the bends and junctions are signed throughout.

The work will also include the renewal of road markings and installing new traffic bollards, as well as resurfacing the carriageway at Dinmore Hill.

The work is taking place in sections, with the A49 in the north of the county currently being tackled.

The A49 was closed overnight between the A49 and A456 junction at Woofferton and the A49 and A4112 junction at Stockton from December 10 and December 20, but has been open over the festive period.

Now the closure is set to resume from today (January 2), with works continuing until January 17.

The closure will be in force from 8pm to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

A diversion route is in place via the A4112 from the A49 to Tenbury and the A456 from Tenbury to Woofferton and vice versa.
