A new pop-up ‘Book Pub’ is coming to Brixton – with free pints

Running between November 20 and November 24, Brixton Brewery has joined forces with Lambeth Libraries to create a new pub library named ‘The LiBARary’.

This new pop-up reading space can be found at Arch 548 of Brixton Station and will offer book lovers a cosy “community” space to curl up with a book within the brewery’s taproom.

This new library launches just as new research from Censuswide finds that nearly a quarter of Brits (23 percent) have noticed more people reading in bars and pubs , with over half of London’s pubs having libraries and reading spaces.

Visitors who bring a book to donate to the library will also receive a free pint and you can also sign up to Lambeth Libraries straight from the bar.

Alongside the new library space, the brewery will also be hosting a calendar of book-themed events with book clubs, an author meet-up and more running from November 20 to 24.

But if you fancy getting your hands on a new book, Book Stop Brixton will be selling a range of titles including new releases from south London authors.

Xochitl Benjamin, co-founder of Brixton Brewery, commented: “Brixton has always been a hub for a mix of the city’s best culture, music, art and food, and with so many people finding pubs and bars the perfect environment to settle down with a book, we want the LiBARary to celebrate both seasoned and new readers with a dedicated space to enjoy reading and a taste of the buzzing literary community that makes Brixton, and London, so special.

‘It’s clear that more and more of us are connecting with new people through a love of reading, and people have always done the same over a pint, so we’re sure that the LiBARary will make it that bit easier to do both- or simply relax alone with a book and a drink.”
