Why did the Red Army win the Russian Civil War?

When the civil war broke out in Russia in 1918, Bolsheviks’ Army was named the Red Army while the anti Bolshevik forces were called the Whites (White movement).

“The Red army” remained a synonym of Soviet and communist party for many many years to come. Even after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Russian army continues to be called the Red Army

The Red Army won the Russian Civil War because their army was better organized, united and disciplined towards a single end – winning the war.

The Red Army used foreign intervention as a rallying point, and held the best territory – controlling the center of Russia. The Red Army used terror tactics as well.

The Red Army eventually won the Russian Civil War in November 1920 when they battered the Whites forces.

The majority of White Russians fled or lived in exile after they were defeated.
